Malayalam Bible
Malayalam:
One of the four major Dravidian anguages of southern India. Derived from ancient Tamil in the 6th century from which also Tamil was derived. The name is usually derived from two words meaning "mountain region" and is properly the name of a district. It has received under Brahminical infuence a large infusion of Sanskrit words. It is spoken by about 36 million people, mainly in the south west of India.
The edition is printed in modern Malayalam charcacter. The OT is printed in Mangalore in 1879 and the NT in Madras in 1899 by the Basle missionaries and the BFBS.
